New Lane was followed by Lorong Susu, to this place cos Other Half and Son are crazy about tang-yuan, glutinous rice balls. In this one food, like father like son. Son is a picky eater. Beats me why he has a penchant for these sticky balls. Anyway, tang yuan all year round! How about it?
This is kinda unique, right? It is in the washroom. Creative! The water is pushed by a pump up and flows out from the tap. Then it flows out through the overflow control hole into another container down there which also contains fish. Couldn't help admire the idea behind it. But watch the stairs as you come down from the toilet. They are kinda small. Even my size 6 feet also found it difficult. You might trip and go tumbling down cos the gradient is quite steep - those kind that you get in old shophouses.
Son heard the instruction wrongly and ordered this... both of them had to finish it as Daughter and I were already really full and both of us are not really into tang yuans.
This was what they wanted but somehow were a little disappointing cos they were looking for clear peanut soup. This one is creamy peanut soup.... I agree, plain peanut soup would be nicer. We had a nice one at East Coast Park Hawker Centre in Singapore.
We also tried their deserts... and this is something new for us. Tang yuan on ice! The shaved ice is 'slightly laced' with santan. But still the chewiness of the tang yuan gets to me. 8(
They look really pretty though, sitting on top of the ice, surrounded by all the other desert goodies. Makes an appetizing treat for kids.
Well one day and four posts later, a trip supposedly to shop for bags but ended up as a food adventure... breakfast at Canton-i in Queensbay, snacks at Penang Road, dinner at New Lane and finally deserts of tang yuan at Lorong Susu. I learned also that if we open ourselves to possibilities rather than be bogged down by our excess baggages of perceptions etc, a whole wide new world of experience actually opens up to us. It's up to us how we want to look at things... Life is like that too!
As a result we got almost a whole day on our legs (would have been the same if we had stayed in the malls) with Son complaining as usual (but less this time as we were getting his stuff) but our taste buds tantalized to no end... AND it was fun! And yup! We managed to get a 60L haversack and a travelling bag for under RM140.
And today too Son left for his SUSOM (with the bags we got from this trip). He will be missed even though he's the one who complains the most in the family... teenage angst. We pray for God's presence to be with him and that it'll be an experience that will enrich him.
A blog about everything that interests me...family, friends, interests, country, world..
