Pikom 2008 at PISA

We usually will try to make it to the PIKOM PC Fair in Penang every year. Some years we miss it but this is one year which we managed to make it. Got there quite early cos I thought it was starting at 10.00 a.m. I was wrong! Opening hour was at 11.00. Aiyo! Anyway, since we had not taken breakfast, we decided to park our car in PISA and walk across the road to have breakfast. LOL! We didn't have to pay parking cos we were early! Yay! First time we don't have to pay parking. He! He! ... got free parking. After breakfast, there was still time. So we hung around. Felt like we were attending some MTV award ceremony...these are the VIPs strutting into the arena. But they have to carry their own make-up kits. Seriously, these last 2 years, the rave is laptops. Desktops seem to be heading towards extinction.Us common folks had to wait for the doors to open. Really had to 'bersesak' to get in. There were some slight jostling. The crowd was actually quite big. Found out why later. Apparently, the fair was quite empty the night before. Most people had stayed back at home to watch the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony. Olympics comes once every 4 years, PIKOM Fair, you get to go every year. While waiting, we watched in fascination as the trucks 'handled' the stairs to go up with the goods. Lil Rainbow got tired of standing. Used the papa's leg as the mat. Better than sitting on the hard floor. At least waiting around wasn't that hot because of the occasional blast of cold air from the open door.Inside on the first level. Every booth was packed with people except for one, the audio section. The speakers were going full blast that even the price tags on them were shaking and grooving away. But the ears cannot tahan. Most people who walked through the area hurried past. I guess only the 'noise buffs' can tahan that sort of pounding.A look of the booths from the spectators' chairs. I sat up there with Lil Rainbow while her bro and his papa went from booth to booth. We talked about the stairs in the ceilings while waiting for the men to finish shopping! Good thing the place is air-conditioned, otherwise, the kind of smell one has to put up with! Anyway, we walked away with our pockets lighter...got some stuff which we had been looking for at a very reasonable prices plus freebies. Then it was off to Queensbay!
