First MYF Sunday at WMC

One more first... and this was last Sunday (29/3). Come September it will be a year. There will be a couple more firsts to record before the cycle is completed.

Two rainbows greeted us as we made our way into the building... a big one, a real beauty to behold and a slightly visible one just above the first one. To me it sort of represented the significance of this particular Sunday... Church is made up of adults and the young... the young is waiting by the sideline, being honed, trained and sharpened to assume and take over from us one day. They will be bright and vibrant like the first rainbow some day... and we must see to it that they get the opportunities... else they'll just fade away.

MYF Sunday is celebrated every year to acknowledge the youths in church. They are an integral part and our hope for the future. MYF is made up of youths who get together once every week on Fridays. There are about 30 odd of them. The incoming Prez led worship and gave a report. Prez is Tim this year.

The MYF'ers gave a short but meaningful presentation.

Over the years, apart from the grounding of their faith, MYF has served as a training ground for these young people to be honed in various areas; service, leadership, stewardship, mission, outreach, etc. It's also a time and place for them to hang out together, forge relationships, do the things young people do...

Many of the young people are already serving, albeit a defined scope and it would be good to see it expanded to other areas as well. I can think of ushering, technical support, getting the place ready for worship, Church School among others. Our hope lies in them. We should be getting them ready to receive the baton wherever God places them in their future. But it also depends on their willingness... and ours.
