Pencerapan...

One of the things which we teachers have to put up with is this thing called pencerapan... It is basically observation on a teacher done by those pihak atasan people. If done according what it's meant to be, it should play a role in propelling the classroom teaching to greater heights.

Problem is, very often in the context of our system, it's done to memenuhi syarat... one of the reasons why teachers today don't upgrade themselves much profesionally. Upgrade themselves in urusan jual beli in school...got-lah. Read what this young aspiring teacher has to say... half of us tak layak.

I always find it rather hypocritical to go to great (as oft as the kadar pencerapan) lengths to prepare a lesson just for the formal observation. For that one day, we do the stuff which we don't normally do.... So, for that one 'performance' the teacher is 'graded'. But one big 'splash' does not help the students... getting the students into a certain mould takes effort over a period of time. So, if a teacher only teaches during that one or two pencerapan and does not do much for the rest of the time.... on paper, he'll be an excellent teacher. In reality, he wont' be much. Hence, there are many guru pakar(s) whom many feel are not that pakar. You can sell yourself on that few performances, mah.

Constructive comments usually are also not forthcoming after a pencerapan... I dunno why. Sometimes, I think the people up there have also run out of ideas what to do.

I think 'pencerapan' should be ongoing throughout the year, informally... the people up there will probably tell you that it is carried out. But how to when you don't see them going round the school. Administrators should be picking up students' books randomly and checking.... that is perhaps one of the best ways. Check the students' work! ....but these days they are too busy, so they ask the books be sent to them instead.... the 'smarter' ones will select books, mark them and send them up. The dumber ones like me will just pick at random still...

Pencerapan... hah!!! I think it's another failed thing in our look-good-on-the-outside system.

But still, I think it is something necessary cos if carried out as it should, it would elevate the quality of teaching. Teaching is our core business and there must be instruments in place to ensure that instruction as prescribed by the curriculum is executed. But if the instrument tak jalan properly.... the hasil also tak berapa kena.

Pencerapan is already far outdated. The administrators should do their jobs well first so the teachers will have a good role model. Of my many years as a teacher we have learn the 'tipulogy' approach to fill in the so-called form! A failed system!!!! All for the sake of 'showcasing'.

My Ketua Panitia oso want to cerap me by this week. She said that she just will enter my class for 5 minutes only to show that she has entered that class. ROFL!!

Ha! Ha! Tipulogy... funny! Educators are at the forefront of tipulogy... so what do you think of the products from our hands? Is it no wonder that we seem better off but rotting inside???

My PK1 is quite good to us. I think he is of the same principle as AJ7 (If you teach, you teach ... no need to put up a show). Hence he does not "disturb" us but of course he has to do his job also mah so he carries out what he calls PJJ - pencerapan jarak jauh! LOL!!! I think I like his style. You don't know when he is observing you so you are not stressed out :-)

Haha, tipulogy..... I read it second time only realise what it means..... It's true. I agree. We teachers are doing this almost everyday. What to do? We have to submit all the forms and documents. They never think of our burden. Today my HM discuss with us about SKPM. sigh......So many things to do....Without tipulogy I don't know how.....

Broken?

Education in doldrums... An already broken education system given a really hard whack by Covid-19.  I used to read about pandemics, that a b...
