Could this be because the aedes mosquitoes have a lot of places where they can breed? In June I wrote about the Swift Inns....but the MB was quick to say that the swift inns had nothing to do with it. According to him, the disease was imported..... bah humbug! Within our own families too, we've experienced dengue fever up close. It's definitely true that more people are getting it. And why not too when there so many places with stagnant water everywhere....SERI MANJUNG: The dengue situation in the Manjung district in Perak is very serious with four deaths reported to date, Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said.
He said patients turning acute and dying suddenly from the disease was abnormal.
He further commented that the rise of dengue haemorrhagic fever to up to 50% of total cases was also unseen before this.
Such as this one... This is the parking lot of the former Looking Good shopping complex. Water, water everywhere and it didn't look like it was going anywhere. This pic was taken in June this year. The building overlooks the St Francis Primary School and is next to SRK & SMK Convent.
And just behind it is this thriving morning market. So, tell me, is this place ripe for dengue or not? Of course, I am concerned about the situation cos baru went thru 2 rounds of dengue. Some more, other half said that the mozzies he managed to whack while we were back there were mostly aedes. Manjung has become their habitat-lah! What is the Majlis Bandaran going to do about it? They are partly responsible cos they are responsible for issuing all the license... After aedes.... what next? Chikungunya? Is also carried by the Aedes Aegypti which also carries the virus that causes the dengue hemorrhagic fever.
Anyway, this is the Aedes Aegypti. Notice the markings on its head which is shaped like a lyre...well, that's the 'lyre of death'....one bite from it and a possible death awaits the victim. The creation of lyre is associated with death. According to Greek mythology, the lyre is created from one of Apollo's sacred cow which was slaughtered.
