NRD - BM to BI, no big deal...online translator ada!

The horrendous translation on our National Registration Dept webpage has been a brunt of joke the past few days. The following are excerpts from the official webpage. But bear in mind that the content may be changed as has happened in some of the other pages after being pointed out. At least they're trying to be 'cekap'. I cut and paste the following from their English and BM websites for comparison. This is a case of direct translation....'ala' 'crutch-style'!

Was wondering how they came out with the translation...some smart alec must have thought that there is no need to get someone who can do a proper translation. This same smart alec must have thought that the online translators would do his homework for him. So I checked out one....was wondering why they used 'latterly' for 'Dewasa ini"...and lo and behold...from Citcat, an online translator used the word... LOL! Malaysia memang boleh!!!! No need to learn English because there are websites to 'crutch on'. For all I care, they might as well translate it to Swahili...wouldn't have made much difference in terms of the impression (which is so important in Bolehland) that they are trying to create.
