Holiday Highlights 1

These are some of the more memorable things for me this trip...

Fish shop (they call it fish farm)...they have this 'catch-your-own-fish' thing for the kids. And the fish farms are all done the big way. They have all these huge big ponds for all kinds of fish. This particular fish farm is located in Pasir Ris. It was straight here from the airport as Bro 2 wanted to get some fish food.

Dessert Experience. Sis-in-law took us to Dessert Hut to try out the above...tau suan, almond cream with white fungus, ah boling. Tau Suan is actually 'naked' green beans. 8) The yu-char-kway actually complements this dessert. Ah Boling is Other Half's favourite dessert. The glutinous rice balls have different fillings which oozes out when you take a bite. He would spend the rest of the holiday trying out this dessert from different places. The next one is also like ah boling but in ginger soup. Almond cream with white fungus is okay. Don't have that bitter and cough syrup tastes that I usually associate with almond.

Then the Night Safari at the Zoo...I've not been to the zoo for a long time. The kids enjoyed themselves. Watched the shows..fire eating show, Creatures of the Night...went for the tram ride. Bro 1 took us, which was really kind of him. He didn't even change from his work clothes...took us without taking his dinner also. Dinner cum supper was almost at midnight.

A day later, I had the privilege of trying out Durian Puree with sago and pomelo, another dessert. A bowl costs SG$6...a small fortune. But the experience was worth it. Had that at another dessert establishment in China Town. No pics cos we didn't bring the camera.

And this...watching the Daughter and her cousins playing at the splash pad at Bugis Junction. The pad has quite a number of variations of water shooting out....the kids ran around and through the pad. The objective was to run through and remain dry. That didn't last long. In the end, the boys' mother had to run upstairs and buy them a change of clothes. Daughter managed to keep somewhat dry. While the kids played, the adults sat around and 'lepak'. This beats shopping... watching the kids play together. I call it bridging relationships.

Bro 1 and Bro 2 met up with us for dinner. Then we proceeded to Orchard Road with Bro 1 and sis-in-law. It was nice to walk together. There weren't that many people around as it was not yet weekend.

We walked, talked, stopped for ice-cream, took photos.... The lights are not as spectacular as last year's but they're still nice. We could see all kinds of people out on the street.
Photobucket
The kids plodded on despite the long walk. And the night wasn't very warm either..

From Orchard, we took the MRT and walked to the Merlion at the Esplanade. The walk was long but I kinda enjoyed it with the kids in tow. Some stretches of road were quite empty as it was already quite late. And this was quite a breathtaking view of the bridge at the Esplanade...one can find coffee shops under the bridge. Kinda nice to sip tea and drink coffee with such a view. Other Half took it as we were walking home....

More to come...
